ELA
The Sabin English Language Arts (ELA) department believes that by empowering students with the skills to read, write, speak, listen, and view critically, strategically, and creatively, we can equip our students with the tools they’ll need to become lifelong, independent learners. We can accomplish this by engaging students in meaningful literacy activities through a variety of media, using cooperative learning, collaboration, small-group and independent work, technology, and interactive discussions. The five language arts develop the abilities that enable our students to think logically and creatively, to express ideas, and to understand and participate meaningfully in spoken, written, and nonverbal communications. We strive to meet the needs of each individual learner regardless of his or her abilities and prior experiences as a reader, writer, and thinker.
